Wolverine Budget

Posted by Jon Kelly at Sep 29, 2010 7:07PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

As we head into the last part of the season I wanted to update you on budget issues. Here are some numbers to consider when considering possible future expenses.

U12 Wolverines
Summer Games $475
Cache Cup $475
Park City $575
Referee fees $434
Team Reg fee $ 45
-——
$2005

U9 Wolverine II
Summer Games $375
Cache Cup $400
Park City $475
Referee fees $220
Team Reg fee $ 45
-——-
$1515

There are other expenses such as equipment that comes up. You can obviously see the value of fund raisers to support our team. You can give input into number of tournaments on the survey to come. Do we want to do Summer Games again? We have done it two years in a row and had positive experiences.

We have progressed as a team and obviously reached a new level. Our season statistics show our level of play. Please ask your player what we discussed in practice this week. If we continue on our current path we may need to consider evaluating our league situation.

Thanks for you support. We continue to shine on the field and the sidelines.

1. Talking: Communicate by hand signals, voice and off ball movement.
2. Dominate:
a. Effort
b. winning the ball
c. passing
d. transition and keeping team shape
3. Swinging the field to create open space:
a. wing to wing and spreading it out.
b. drop keep: dropping the ball to the goal keeper.
c. defenders and others swinging the field.
These goals will help our team improve during the fall 2010 season. We are excited to start.

Park City Tournament thoughts

Posted by Jon Kelly at Aug 7, 2010 4:31PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Great job Wolverines.
We did a great job at the Park City extreme tournament this past week. We grew as a team and weathered adversity.
Sometimes there are things behind the scenes that perhaps parents and fans are not aware are happening. Today may illustrate a great point. We were missing players today at the semifinal match (Jayden and Houston). We had numerous injuries that you saw and did not see. Branson injured his hand in the first 5 minutes and then his leg later. Devin got kicked in the head. Konner Aller injured his leg. Reagan was injured. Jacob got elbowed in the head. Conner injured his leg. There were other injuries that occurred during the game. We also had two players get sick. Hunter had stomach pains before the game. Austin got severe cramps during the game and had to be taken out for about 15 minutes. As you can tell we endured several hardships during the game. As a coaching staff we are extremely proud of the quality of play and endurance the players demonstrated today. Many players had to play in new positions and some players had to play without substitution. We even had to change team formation twice during the game. They gave it their all and that is all we can ask. Perhaps there are many life lesson here that all players learned today that you may want to emphasize. Even though we lost by the score, we won the battle. It amazes me how we hung in there to the end and almost pulled it out.
As coaches we value times like this. To see players pull together, play high quality soccer, and support one another is priceless.
Thank you for a successful tournament. There were so many highlights. Feel free to share your thoughts.
We have completed our summer tournament season. I would encourage you to think about our experiences. At the end of the season a survey will be taken to asses your views. No need to respond now, but please take some time to ponder. For instance, do we want to continue summer games next year? Cache Cup? Park City? other? Do we want to go to the Presidents Cup in Feb in St. George?
We are ready for fall league. It will begin the week before labor day or right after.
There will be no practice this next week. This is a time to heal and rest.
Please refer to the calendar for dates and times of practice.
Thanks
Go Wolverines

Park City Extreme check in

Posted by Jon Kelly at Jul 25, 2010 9:33AM PDT ( 0 Comments )

The Park City Extreme tournament officials require a live check in with each team. Check-in requires the team to show up at the same time to check in. In order to coordinate this activity I requested an alternate check in time. The original check in time was on Tuesday. We will check in as below. Please plan accordingly. I have all the necessary paperwork. I need your players body at the check in. If they are not at check in they will not play in the tournament.
Check in times / location:

Wednesday: August 4, 7:00pm.

Location: Newpark Hotel (1456 Newpark Blvd., Park City, 84098). (Google Map)

Thanks
Jon

P.S. If you have not passed on your players jersey number, please do so ASAP>
