Getting Back together

Hello Wolverines,
I hope all is well on your side
It is time to re-group and get back together. Here are some important updates that you can plan for:
1. I have had a hard time finding practice location, but we have secured a field (50 X 80 feet) at the United Sports Center
110 East 4000 North
Hyde Park.
We will practice on Friday afternoons from 4:30-5:30pm. This will give us an opportunity to shoot on nets and practice tactile / technical aspects. We will also add a probable Monday practice in a school gym. I will get back with you on the Monday schedule. The United Sports Center costs $40 per session. Each player will need to pay a small fee (less than $3 per time of usage). I have scheduled us (6 times) through February, so each player will need to pay $18 ASAP. I need to pay for each session individually. Please make checks to Wolverines.
2. We are signed up to play futsal at this same center starting January 11th (Saturday). The cost is $340 per team. Please let me know of your commitment ASAP in order to figure cost. This futsal league is 6 v 6 players. We will get 5 games. This is a great tune up for our February tournament.

3. Ice Breakers tournament: http://www.usucs.com/. This tournament is February 15, 17th over President’s Day weekend. Please let me know ASAP if you are attending this tournament so I can plan for guest players, or not. You can find lodging here: http://secure.cstt.com/Tournaments/HotelList_Results.php?eventid=6060
If you participated in the football clean up then your registration is covered for the tournament. If you did not participate then you owe $50 to Wolverines ASAP.

It is exciting to get back together and get to work again. I have missed all the players and I have rejuvenated.

Hope all is well on your side.
It is time to help the Wolverine team. Please join in and become more involved.
I have decided to break responsibilities of a team manager into sub-committees so everyone has a chance to participate on this team.
Please sign up for a responsibility and let me know ASAP. The list below is not all inclusive. If you have other ideas, please let me know.

Fundraising: Primarily we do clean-ups for USU (football and basketball). You would be involved in the scheduling and coordination of these events

Stats: keeping key statistics during the game and entering them into team pages after games.

Photos / Video: taking photos of players during the game and then uploading them to team pages after each game.

Communication: includes texting team and communicating regarding events.

Travel coordinator: includes helping coordinate travel for the team that includes tournaments and also season logistics (if players need a ride).

Tournaments: This is time to get crazy. Coordinate special equipment (socks, tape, etc.). Coordinate any family activities. Coordinate wet wash clothes, water, spray bottles, ice, etc.

Field: You would be responsible for our home field. Field set up and maintenance. Also coordinating with other teams to paint the field.

Activities: coordinate any family activities and parties that the team wants to do. For instance Man v Mud, end of year parties, etc.

As you can tell it takes effort and time to run a team. Please become involved and support the team.

Wolverines Juggling

You player needs to Juggle 100 consecutive times by the end of Summer. This will take some work and time.
Juggling is important for three reasons, balance, concentration and skill. Kids will build incredible confidence and skill when their skills improve. They will also have a blast playing all the little juggling games once they are competent soccer jugglers.
This website (http://www.soccer-training-info.com/juggling.asp) will provide great background on why to juggle, the importance of juggling, how to juggle, and some impressive video of players juggling. You will want to refer to it many times. World class players juggle. Look at the real applications in game situations of players that are great jugglers at this website.
Please make it a goal to juggle. Take time in your individual practice to juggle.
We will have a big juggling party at the end of summer to celebrate your success.
Thanks
Jon

Here is a great article regarding a negative parent experience. http://www.usyouthsoccer.org/the_consequences_of_negative_parents/. This article reinforces why the Wolverines embrace responsible sport parenting and coaching.
Thank you for being great parents!!!!!!!
