The Wolverines have voted on team Goals for the Season:
1. Passing: Make consistent, wise, good passes.
2. Talking: Communicate in a number of ways (voice, hands, positioning).
3. Speed / Aggressive ( Give my fullest effort in all I do).

Please ask your player about the goals and how they will help the team achieve each one.

Responsible Sports / Potential money

Posted by Jon Kelly at Mar 18, 2010 8:23AM PDT ( 0 Comments )

As we begin the spring season sportsmanship is always a topic I try to address. The Wolverines appreciate your enthusiasm and dedication. Please continue to cheer loud.
We all have a great opportunity to educate ourselves, and also help the Wolverines potentially win some money. I have completed both the coaching module and the parent module, since I wear two hats with the Wolverines. The module only takes about 15-20 minutes to complete. I highly, highly, highly, encourage each parent to register separately and complete the parent module. In order for your player to play in the first game I would request you submit a copy of your certificate. I will need at least one certificate per family, but again I highly, highly, highly, highly suggest each parent complete the parent module. After you complete the module, please "apply" your module to the Wolverines. It enters us in the $2500 grant competition. I have registered the team at this site. Please go to the Responsible Sports website at http://www.responsiblesports.com/default.aspx to begin the process.
We will begin a new program for the players that you are also invited to participate. It will be called "brushing it off" You will understand when you complete the module. It will be introduced in practice this Friday. It basically helps a player forget about the mistake they just made by brushing it off. As you cheer on the sideline you can help by performing the action we will show you and help your child remain calm and perform.
Thanks for being a great fan of the Wolverines. The more we enter the contest the better chance we have to win.

Below are the details of the contest and parent module.

Wolverine Updates

Posted by Jon Kelly at Mar 17, 2010 8:15AM PDT ( 0 Comments )

I attended the District 7 alignment meeting last pm and confirmed that we are in the top division of U11 Boys, or Division I. We will play on Tuesday nights and on Saturdays at 12:30pm. Most of our games will be during these time periods, however there may be some adjustments throughout the season according to referee and field availability.

I challenged your player to think about goals they would like to accomplish this season. They should come up with 3 specific and quantifiable goals. We will also form 3 team goals to work on. I would ask you to read the document at the team site entitled "Mental Toughness" . You should help your player dream big and instill confidence within them. They should also work on their goals at home. Part of our team mentality is to work on things that we can control and let go of what we can not control. When you are ready to submit your goals please submit them via email or through the team pages system.

We are headed into a busy time of year. I am excited. Just an encouragement for the summer period; sign up for the SCSL soccer camp in July:http://www.eteamz.com/southcachesoccer/news/index.cfm?cat=628919. Have you registered for your hotel in Cedar City?

I will let you know regarding our scrimmages before the season begins.
