End of Season thoughts

Posted by Jon Kelly on May 05 2013 at 09:02AM PDT in Spring 2013 D2

First off, let me congratulate the players on this season. We have had a fantastic time. I am personally grateful to have interacted with each player. We have learned a tremendous amount this season. I am a better person because I have interacted with each one of your player.
Next, I want you to consider how you measure success in soccer. I have attached a document for your consideration. Think back over this season and discuss with your player their development. Think about the positives that have happened. Think about the Mental toughness lessons they have learned.
We have a couple of games left, but thoughts are also on the future. Your players are at a critical age in their soccer development. Next year many players are eligible to try-out for High School soccer. This usually happens around the second week of February. The boys have fall state divisional alignment, but in the spring play with their high school teams. The league also allows play for those players who did not make a high school team through a regional play system. There are no true divisions in the spring, only regional play. So….here are some critical decisions to consider.
What is the future for your player and what is your commitment to the Wolverines?
We may continue in D2 or drop to D3. The next games determine our status
This is always a very crazy time of year and hard decisions are made. I ask that you are upfront with the Wolverines so plans can be made for the coming year. Please sit down with your son and discuss their goals.
Please email me your plans. Tryouts for the Wolverines will occur the week of May 28th-June 1st.
Here are some considerations for the future of the Wolverines: Tex Keen Wolverines district team may go state (they would begin at D6 level). Elite (old Thunderfoot team) dropped to D3 and are struggling. They have made soft comments of a merger.

The document Long Term success was attached to this post.
