President's Cup Pride

Posted by Jon Kelly on Feb 21 2012 at 10:33AM PST in Spring 2012

Way to go Wolverines. Your hard work and pride shone brightly at President’s Cup. The two teams that beat us went to the quarter finals and Rangers went to the semi-finals and barely got beat. These were quality teams that are ranked high in the state system. Here are some highlights for my perspective.
1. Beating Octane: Octane will probably be in our division this spring. It was important to set a standard going into a new division. We dominated this team.
2. Playing in the Regional Center: Wow, was that impressive to play under the lights and perform incredible against a Premiere team (only 10 premiere teams in the state). There were so many highlights from that game. Great job defense. Great goal keeping. Great ball movement. Intensity. Commitment. Even though we had no substitutions, you hung in there.
Playing at the Mesquite Regional Center in the daylight was also a highlight. The stadium was fantastic.
3. This tournament helps us move into spring season. The UYSA Competitive Board will meet soon and discuss what division we will play in for spring season. We will most likely end up in D3, but we may end up in D2. Either way, our confidence should be up, up, up. We have shown we can compete at any level. Yes we need some tweaks, and some improvements, but we continue to make significant progress and continue to compete at the state level
We will begin again 3/2/2012.
Thanks for your continual dedication and committment.
Jon
